Welcome to GWD Russells Holden
HOLDEN SPORTWAGON BEST FOR BUSINESS
The Holden Sportwagon has been chosen as the best large car in the country by New Zealand Company Vehicle magazine, the country’s premier automotive magazine for business fleets.
The SV6 Sportwagon won this prestigious award up against stiff competition from vehicles such as the Ford Falcon XT, XR6, Nissan Maxima and Toyota Aurion.
Robert Barry, Editor of New Zealand Company Vehicle says that by creating a Commodore wagon on the same platform as the sedan, Holden have created a vehicle that looks as good as it drives.
“With the introduction of the Active fuel management (AFM) V8 and SIDI V6 engines this year, the VE Sportwagon met the need for large fleet car comfort with better environmental performance.”
“We found the interior comfort and amenity of the Sportwagon plus the handling and dynamics equalled that of the Commodore sedan, but the fact that it was also a capable and practical car swayed us into giving it the Large Business vehicle award over the sedan,” Mr Barry says.
Simon Carr, Holden New Zealand Managing Director, says it’s great news that the Sportwagon has been recognized as the best large car for business buyers. “We have put a lot of work into refining the Commodore range to ensure that it matches the expectation of business buyers.”
“We recognize that business buyers need the size, comfort and flexibility of a large car but that fuel economy is of the upmost importance. The new SIDI engines improve fuel economy by up to 13% on the Omega Sportwagon, making it more efficient than some four cylinder competitors,” Mr Carr says.
Carbon emissions have also been reduced across the new Commodore model range with savings of up to 14% on the Omega Sportwagon.
The Holden Commodore range, including Ute, is the first Australian manufactured range to receive a maximum five star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). The result reflects the long list of safety features found standard across the VE Sportwagon range including six airbags, rear park assist and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) which incorporates Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Brake Assist (EBA) and Traction Control System (TCS).
